Why Bergen County drivers call a dispatcher who tells them the real drive time

For towing Bergen County NJ callers can plan around, this NJ towing services provider sends its own trucks from Linden, gives an honest window from whichever truck is nearest, and prices the whole job before anyone rolls.

Bergen County stretches from the Meadowlands marsh to the New York line at Mahwah, with seventy towns packed in between. No single yard sits close to all of them, and ours is not even in the county; it is in Linden, down in Union County.

We say that up front because it changes what you should expect. A stalled car in Rutherford is a short hop up the Turnpike, while a breakdown in Montvale is a long drive, and the dispatcher on (908) 666-3168 will tell you which one you are.

What stays the same everywhere is the price structure. Every tow in the county starts at $149 when you phone it in, or $129 if you book online, and the mileage is spoken out loud before you agree.

01

Close in the south, a fair run in the middle, far in the north

Lyndhurst, Rutherford and East Rutherford sit about 30 to 35 minutes from the yard by the Turnpike. Hackensack, Paramus and Teaneck usually take 40 to 45 minutes when nothing is already nearby.

Mahwah, Ramsey, the Pascack Valley and the towns along the northern valley are an hour or more. We take calls there, and we quote the time plainly instead of guessing low.

02

Trucks are often already north of Linden

A good share of our work happens in Hudson County and around the Meadowlands, so a truck finishing a job in Secaucus or Kearny may be much closer to you than the yard is. The dispatcher sees the board and quotes from that truck.

When no truck is nearby, you hear the full drive time. Nobody in our office will round an hour down to twenty minutes to keep you on the line.

03

The far north suits planned work

A car that has to reach a dealer in Mahwah by Friday, a leased SUV going back from Ridgewood, a fleet van that needs a shop run from Oakland. These are jobs where a long drive costs you nothing, because the time is booked ahead.

Schedule it by phone or on the online form and the truck arrives when you asked. That is where our northern Bergen work is strongest.

04

The car goes where you say

After a crash on Route 17, the car can end up wherever the first available truck takes it, sometimes a lot that charges by the day. Book us and it goes to your mechanic in Hackensack, a dealer on Route 4 or your own driveway.

Photos are taken at pickup and at drop-off. The itemized receipt and the photos go to your insurer if you ask.

County-wide dispatch

How towing works across Bergen County when the yard sits south of the county line

The dispatcher treats Bergen County as one board, sends the truck that is truly closest, charges the same booking fee in every town, and tells you plainly how far that truck has to come.

Bergen County is shaped by three things: the Hackensack River and the Meadowlands in the south, the Palisades and the George Washington Bridge in the east, and a long run of suburbs climbing toward the Ramapo Mountains in the northwest. Each part breaks down differently.

The southern towns live with stadium traffic, the Route 3 merge and the Turnpike's Western Spur. The middle of the county is shopping, courthouses and hospitals along Routes 4 and 17, and the north is quiet streets, long commutes and I-287.

Our trucks come up from Linden by the Turnpike, so the south is where we are fastest. Everything north of Route 4 is a longer drive, and the dispatcher builds that into every quote.

South Bergen and the Meadowlands: our nearest ground

Lyndhurst, Rutherford, East Rutherford, Carlstadt, Moonachie and Wood-Ridge sit just past the Hudson County line. Turnpike Exit 16W and Route 3 bring a truck in, and on event days at MetLife Stadium our drivers already know which roads close.

This is the part of Bergen County where a window of about half an hour is realistic, sometimes less when a truck is working in Secaucus or Kearny.

The middle: Hackensack, Paramus, Teaneck and the GWB towns

The county seat, the malls and the bridge towns sit farther up I-95, Route 17 and Route 46. Allow roughly 40 to 45 minutes from the yard, less when a truck is already at the Meadowlands.

Rush hour on Route 4 or the approach to the George Washington Bridge can add real time. The dispatcher will tell you when traffic is the problem.

The north: Ridgewood to Mahwah and the Pascack Valley

Mahwah, Ramsey, Oakland, Franklin Lakes, Westwood, Park Ridge, Montvale and the northern valley towns are an hour or more from Linden. We will not promise a fast emergency response up there.

What we do well in the north is booked work: dealer drops, shop runs, a project car moving house, a fleet account with regular pickups. Set a time and the truck keeps it.

Give the town and the nearest cross street. You hear which truck is coming and how long it really needs.

Emergency towing

Emergency towing in Bergen County: what gets sent first and how long it takes

Bergen County emergencies, a car in a live lane on Route 17 or Route 4, a crash on I-80, a stall at a hospital entrance or a family stuck on a shoulder, go to the front of the board at the same $149 booking fee plus mileage, with the arrival time stated honestly.

The first thing the dispatcher asks is whether you are out of traffic. The second is the town, because Bergen County has seventy of them and several share street names.

An emergency is assigned before the price conversation ends. If the nearest truck is 35 minutes away, you hear 35 minutes, and if you are in a spot where waiting that long is unsafe, the dispatcher tells you to call 911 first.

01

Crashes on Route 17, Route 4 and I-80

Route 17 and Route 4 have jughandles, short merges and store entrances every few hundred feet, which is why so many Bergen crashes happen on them. I-80 through Lodi, Hackensack and Teaneck adds speed to the mix.

Call while the police are still there and let the officer know a private truck is booked. You keep the choice of where the car goes, and the driver photographs the damage for your claim.

02

Stalls near the stadium and on Route 3

On a game or concert night, Route 3 and Paterson Plank Road fill up, and a dead car in one lane backs up the whole Meadowlands. Our trucks come in from the south, which is usually the side with the open lanes.

If the car still rolls, get it into a lot or onto a side street in East Rutherford or Carlstadt before you call.

03

Flooded roads by the Hackensack River

Heavy rain puts water across low roads in Moonachie, Little Ferry, Carlstadt and parts of Hackensack quickly. Do not restart a car that has been sitting in floodwater.

A flatbed is the right truck for a flooded car, and the dispatcher will send one. Tell us how high the water came on the doors.

04

Blocking a hospital, a dock or a school lot

A car that dies at the entrance to Hackensack University Medical Center, Holy Name or Englewood Hospital is holding up people who cannot wait. A box truck stuck at a warehouse dock in Carlstadt stops a whole shift.

Those go first. Where the vehicle ends up is sorted out once the entrance is clear.

Say "emergency" when the dispatcher picks up. The nearest truck is assigned first, and you hear the real time.

What we tow

Every tow and roadside job we run in Bergen County, from stadium lots to Pascack Valley driveways

Bergen County gets emergency, flatbed and wheel-lift towing, accident recovery, scheduled and fleet moves, medium and heavy-duty work, winch-outs, and roadside fixes such as jump starts, tire changes, lockouts and fuel delivery.

Emergency towing

The car will not go another foot. A truck is assigned as soon as you accept the quote, and it takes the car to the shop or driveway you name anywhere in Bergen County.

Flatbed towing

Four wheels on the deck, strapped at the tires. The right choice for the EVs, AWD SUVs and low luxury cars that fill Bergen driveways from Englewood Cliffs to Saddle River.

Accident towing

After a Route 17 jughandle crash or a rear-end on Route 4, we clear the car and the glass, photograph every side for the adjuster and deliver it to your body shop.

Scheduled & fleet towing

Dealer drops, lease returns, shop transfers and regular fleet runs. The best fit for the northern towns, because a booked time makes the long drive irrelevant.

Jump, tire, lockout, fuel

A dead battery at a Paramus mall lot, a flat on Route 46, keys locked in at a Fort Lee garage, an empty tank on I-80. One flat price each, fixed on the spot.

Winch out & recovery

Off the road into a snowbank on a hilly Tenafly street, into soft ground by the Meadowlands marsh, or down an embankment on a ramp. If it drives after the pull, you drive it.

Heavy duty towing

Box trucks at the Carlstadt and Moonachie warehouses, vans on Route 17, buses and tractors near Teterboro. Medium and heavy-duty trucks from the same dispatcher.

Long distance towing

A car sold to a buyer in another state, a student's car off to school, a move from Bergen to the shore. One flatbed does the whole trip, with tolls built into the quote.

Each service has its own page with more detail: emergency towing, flatbed towing, accident towing, heavy duty towing and roadside assistance. You do not need to know which one fits before calling from Bergen County. Tell the dispatcher what the car is doing and the truck is chosen for you.

Might not need a tow at all? Describe the problem and the cheaper fix comes up first.

Bergen County areas

Towing in six parts of Bergen County, from the Meadowlands to the New York line

We split Bergen County into six areas: the Meadowlands and south Bergen; Hackensack and Lodi; Paramus and the Route 4 and 17 corridor; Fort Lee, Englewood and Teaneck; Fair Lawn, Garfield, Elmwood Park and Saddle Brook; and the north from Ridgewood to Mahwah and the Pascack Valley.

Seventy towns is too many to list one by one, so the dispatcher thinks of Bergen County in six pieces. Each has its own roads, its own typical calls and its own honest drive time from Linden.

Every area below has a page with its towns, highways and landmarks. Start with the one you are in, or just call and name the nearest cross street.

All six areas, the county roads and the three neighboring New Jersey counties are on one page.

Towing on Routes 3, 4, 17 and 46, I-80, I-95, I-287 and the Parkway in Bergen County

The state routes, I-80, I-95 north of the Turnpike, I-287 and every county road in Bergen County get a direct dispatch from us; the Turnpike and Parkway shoulders go to the Authority's authorized garages first, and the George Washington Bridge is Port Authority ground.

Route 17, Rutherford to Mahwah

Route 17 runs the full length of the county, from the Route 3 area near Rutherford through Hasbrouck Heights, Paramus and Ridgewood to Ramsey and Mahwah. No shoulder in many stretches, driveways on both sides and jughandles instead of left turns. Tell us the direction and the nearest store or cross street.

Route 4, Paramus to the bridge

Route 4 carries traffic from Paramus through Hackensack, Teaneck and Englewood to the George Washington Bridge approach in Fort Lee. The Garden State Plaza interchange with Route 17 is the busiest point. Direct dispatch, same flat booking fee.

Route 3 and the Meadowlands

Route 3 crosses the southern tip of Bergen County past MetLife Stadium and American Dream on its way between Clifton and the Lincoln Tunnel approach. Traffic here is fast until an event lets out, then it stops. We are closest to this road of any in the county.

I-80 and Route 46

I-80 cuts east to west across the middle of the county through Elmwood Park, Saddle Brook, Lodi, Hackensack and Teaneck, joining I-95 near Ridgefield Park and Teaneck. Route 46 runs a parallel line toward Little Ferry, Ridgefield Park and Fort Lee. Both are direct dispatch for us.

I-95 to the George Washington Bridge

North of the Turnpike's end, I-95 runs through Teaneck, Englewood and Fort Lee to the bridge. On the highway approach we dispatch directly. The bridge and its toll plaza belong to the Port Authority, so the car is picked up once it has been moved off that ground.

Turnpike, Parkway and I-287

The Turnpike's Western Spur at Exits 16W and 18W and the Garden State Parkway from about Exit 159 to Exit 172 fall under one rule. On the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway the shoulder itself is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages; book with us anyway, and once the authorized truck has the car off the highway we take it from the exit or the garage's lot to the shop or driveway you choose, at the same flat quoted price. I-287 near Mahwah and Oakland is direct dispatch, with the long drive quoted honestly.

On a Bergen County shoulder right now? Get behind the barrier, hazards on, then call and we will tell you where to wait.

Towing cost

What towing costs in Bergen County: $149 flat, $129 online, whatever the town

Every Bergen County tow starts with the $149 flat booking fee for dispatch and hook-up ($129 online), plus mileage to your destination quoted before the truck is sent; roadside jobs are one flat price each, with nothing added for nights, weekends, holidays or fuel.

The booking fee is $149 by phone and covers sending the truck and hooking the car. Book online and it drops to $129.

What changes from one Bergen County tow to the next is distance and condition. A dead sedan in Lyndhurst going to a shop in the same town is a small total, while a crashed AWD SUV on Route 17 in Ramsey headed to a body shop in Hackensack costs more, and both are quoted in full before you agree.

The drive from Linden to your car is not billed as mileage. You pay for the trip from pickup to drop-off, so the long run up to Mahwah does not quietly land on your receipt.

01

Why two Bergen County tows can cost different amounts

The booking fee is identical across the county, from Moonachie to Montvale. The miles between your car and its destination are the first thing that moves the total.

The vehicle is the second. An EV or an AWD SUV rides the flatbed, a box truck needs a heavier unit, and a car that cannot roll may need dollies or a winch, all priced before anything happens. The prices page walks through it.

02

Roadside fixes that cost less than a tow

Many Bergen County calls end without a hook: a jump in a Garden State Plaza lot, a spare mounted on Cedar Lane, a door opened in Fort Lee, fuel poured on I-80. Each is one flat price.

If the fix does not hold, the truck is already there. The tow is quoted on the spot and no second dispatch is needed.

Want the number before anything else? Call and ask. A quote is free and commits you to nothing.

  1. 1

Call {{phone}} and name the town

There is no menu to press through. Start with the town, then the cross street, the lot or the highway and direction, the car, what happened and where it should go.

  2. 2

Hear the price and the real window

The quote covers the booking fee, the miles and any recovery the dispatcher can already tell you need. The window is measured from the nearest truck, which might be at the Meadowlands, in Jersey City or still in Linden, and you are told which.

  3. 3

The driver calls on the way

Our trucks are lettered, so you can spot yours. On a highway, wait behind the barrier; in a lot at night, wait inside the locked car until the driver calls again from beside you.

  4. 4

Photos, the drive, drop-off and receipt

The driver photographs every side before loading and again after unloading. You can ride in the cab at no extra charge.

The itemized receipt matches the number you heard on the phone. Send it to your insurer or roadside plan as it is.

FAQ

What Bergen County drivers ask before they call for a tow

In short: we cover the whole of Bergen County, the south is closest and the north is far, the price comes before the truck, and no membership is needed.

Are you actually in Bergen County?

No, and we would rather you hear it from us. Our yard is in Linden, in Union County. Our trucks work Bergen County every day, and many of them spend the day in Hudson County or around the Meadowlands, which is often closer to you than the yard.

How long will a truck take to reach me in Bergen County?

Lyndhurst, Rutherford and East Rutherford are about 30 to 35 minutes from Linden. Hackensack, Paramus and Teaneck are roughly 40 to 45, and Mahwah, Ramsey and the Pascack Valley an hour or more. The dispatcher quotes from the nearest truck on the board, so it is often less.

What does a tow cost anywhere in Bergen County?

$149 for dispatch and hook-up by phone, or $129 when you book online. Mileage from pickup to drop-off is quoted before a truck is sent, and the prices page lays out the rest.

Do I pay for the drive from Linden up to Mahwah?

No. Mileage is counted from your car to where it is going, not from our yard to your car. The long drive north is our cost, and we tell you about it as time, not as money.

Should I call you for an emergency in the far north of the county?

If you are safe and can wait an hour or so, yes. If you are in a live lane on Route 17 or I-287 near Mahwah, call 911 first and let the police make the scene safe. We will never promise a fast arrival up there that we cannot keep.

What kind of Bergen County jobs are you best at?

Anything in the southern towns and the middle of the county, plus scheduled work everywhere. Dealer drops, lease returns, shop transfers and fleet runs in Ridgewood, Oakland or Park Ridge are a strong fit, because the time is set in advance.

Is a tow in Saddle River or Alpine priced higher than one in Garfield?

No. The booking fee and the per-mile rate are the same in every Bergen County town. Only the distance from pickup to drop-off changes the total.

My car died in a MetLife Stadium lot after a game. Can you get to it?

Yes, once the lot opens to service vehicles. Traffic after an event is heavy, so it can take a while for anyone to get in; tell the dispatcher the lot and the nearest sign or section marker, and we will time the truck for when the roads clear.

Something unusual about your situation? Tell the dispatcher; it has likely come up before.

Tow truck near me

Searching "tow truck near me" in Bergen County? Here is how near we really are

When you search for towing near me in Bergen County, the honest answer depends on where you are: about 30 to 35 minutes in the Meadowlands towns, 40 to 45 in Hackensack, Paramus and Teaneck, and an hour or more in the far north, less when a truck is already nearby.

"Tow truck near me" is a promise plenty of listings make and few keep in a county this long. Here is our version, area by area, with no rounding down.

Our trucks start from Linden and spend much of the day in Hudson County and around the Meadowlands. The truck sent to you is whichever one is closest at that moment, and the dispatcher names the time.

01

Towing near me in Lyndhurst, Rutherford and East Rutherford

This is our closest Bergen ground, up the Turnpike to Exit 16W and Route 3. Figure about 30 to 35 minutes from the yard, sometimes less when a truck is working in Secaucus.

02

Towing near me in Hackensack, Paramus and Teaneck

The middle of the county is roughly 40 to 45 minutes from Linden. A truck already at the Meadowlands or in North Bergen can cut that, and the dispatcher will say so when it does.

03

Towing near me in Fort Lee, Englewood and Fair Lawn

The bridge towns and the Passaic River side are about the same distance as Hackensack. Bridge traffic can add time on the east side, and you hear about it before you commit.

An hour or more from our yard, and we will not pretend otherwise. For a breakdown you can wait on, or a tow you can book for later, we are a good choice; for a car in a live lane, call 911 first.

Why a Bergen County driver should hear the distance before the truck leaves

Our yard is in Linden, south of Bergen County, so the dispatcher on {{phone}} tells you where the nearest truck actually is and how long it needs, whether you are in Rutherford, Teaneck or Mahwah.

Plenty of operators promise twenty minutes and show up in ninety. We would rather tell a caller in Park Ridge that the run is over an hour and let them decide. The price works the same way: $149 by phone, $129 when you book online, mileage quoted first. See the six county areas and the price breakdown.
